Healthy choices are available every day. To assist you in making the best choices, we display the Food Pyramid as well as color-coded nutrition labels for every item served. Vegan or Vegetarian: Bruce Cafeteria offers an exclusive vegetarian line at lunch and dinner Monday through Friday. They also serve vegetarian breakfast items. Kerr Cafeteria provides a vegetarian option in their daily lunch menu as well as Saturday dinner and Sunday brunch. Very few animal fats are used in our recipes. Any food that contains animal fat, eggs and/or dairy will be labeled. Soy milk is available upon request.
In order to assist students in making healthy selections, we use the £ symbol to designate "Lite" recipes. Items receiving the Lite designation contain no more than 300 calories and 10 grams of fat. Most meals will offer at least one Lite entrée. We will be introducing and testing more new Lite recipes throughout the year at Mean Greens Cafe.
Students who have food allergies may check the nutrition label displayed with the food. Common ingredients to which some may be allergic are shown on the food label. These include: milk, eggs, fish, wheat, soy, cashews, pecans, peanuts, walnuts, and almonds.
In the event you are unable to eat in the cafeteria due to work or class schedule conflict; we will be glad to prepare a sack lunch or dinner to go. Contact the dining room manager at least 24 hours in advance to request this special service.
If you are sick, contact the Head Resident in your hall for approval to receive a sick tray. A friend can pick up the tray with your photo ID.
