Mean Greens is home to Mean Green Acres, a hydroponic garden built inside a specially designed, upcycled freight trailer behind the Dining Hall. At any given time, five to eleven different varieties of lettuce and herbs are grown in the container, allowing UNT Dining Services to produce up to 750 heads a week for Mean Greens Café and other Dining Halls on campus — all on about one gallon of water per day! Our 2021 Meal Plan Guide is an extension of our website Meal Plan information, all in a print-friendly version, trimmed down for quick reference. Our purpose for creating a Meal Plan Guide was to inform students and prospective students of the options they have while also directing them to our website for more information. The original images used in this piece are focused on our fresh, plant-focused ingredients and meals. Both full- and part-time employees regularly edit, upgrade and grow the website to make sure it accurately reflects our department and is increasingly effective in reaching people. ...
As Juneteenth is a memorable event in United States and Texas history, we aimed to remember and celebrate it with classic food in one of our most visited Dining Halls, Bruceteria. To help educate students on the importance of Juneteenth, we created eight banners with facts about the holiday's history. The banners, posters and menu were all created in the same modern Texan aesthetic.
